CELEBRATING CINCO de MAYO

CELEBRATING CINCO de MAYO

I teach Wearable Art at our local college and each year in May, the students put on a Fashion Show to showcase the garments they have made during the year. I make a jacket to wear at the show, usually to show what the students will be making in the coming Fall semester.  However,  In 2010, the Fashion Show date fell on Cinco de Mayo, so I made a jacket using that theme to wear at the show.  The jacket pattern is the Waistcoat Pattern #1206, from my pattern collection.  I used embroidered motifs from www.emblibrary.com, wonky nine patch stars, “flanges” and Seminole piecing, as well as decorative stitching, to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
