BIRDS IN A JACOBEAN GARDEN

BIRDS IN A JACOBEAN GARDEN

This jacket was entered into a contest, whose theme was “These are a Few of My Favorite Things”  and used the marbled fabric as the challenge fabric  I have all kinds of “favorite things”, but at the top of my list is creating wearable art using embroidery designs and decorative stitches  to enhance my work.  The “swirly” designs in the challenge fabric seemed to go with the fantasy birds and birds need a garden, so I added the Jacobean flowers (from the designs at  www.emblibrary.com).   The contrast of the peach and maroon challenge fabric really spoke to me and when I found the “peachy” color embroidery thread, I knew how I was going to create one of my favorite things – a piece of wearable art!  Jacket pattern is my Bolero pattern $0803.  This jacket won first place in the contest.
